Coronavirus (Covid-19) Dear Clients and Housekeepers
Just to clarify our current position on this;
Should a client require any form of PPE to be worn then this should be provided by the client.
10 May 2020 - After the Announcement today by the Prime minster all housekeepers are allowed to return to work if you are not already doing so, but ideally not by Public Transport if you are able to do so, but please take notice of our advice re Social Distancing below.
08 June 2020 - Any housekeeper returning from outside the United Kingdom must go into self isolation for 14 days.
11 June 2020 - If any housekeeper is advised to self-isolate by the NHS Test and Trace then they must follow the Government guidelines: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/nhs-test-and-trace-how-it-works
15 June 2020 - As I am sure you are aware from today it is compulsory for our Housekeepers using Public transport to wear a cloth face covering that should cover their mouth and nose while allowing them to breathe comfortably. It can be as simple as a scarf or bandana that ties behind the head.
03 July 2020 Update - Any housekeeper returning from outside the United Kingdom must go into self isolation for 14 days unless where no longer required by the government - https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-travel-corridors#countries-and-territories-with-no-self-isolation-on-arrival-in-england
17 October 2020 - Government advice: People working in homes are exempt from the rule banning the mixing of households indoors in Tier 1 and 2, therefore Home Cleaning is allowed unless we go to Tier 3.
31 October 2020 – Further to the Government briefing today from
05 November to 02 December 2020 England is going into a National Lockdown,
however Domestic Cleaning is still allowed provided Covid-19 measures are
followed and the housekeeper or client shows no symptoms.
26 November 2020 – Further to the Government briefing today from 02 December 2020 Cambridgeshire will come out of National Lockdown and go into Tier 2, therefore Domestic Cleaning is still allowed provided Covid-19 measures are followed and the housekeeper or client shows no symptoms.
23 December 2020 – Just to reassure you following the government announcement today we will be moving to Tier 4 from Boxing day, however housekeepers are still allowed to continue working, please see -https://www.gov.uk/guidance/tier-4-stay-at-home#going-to-work
04 January 2021 – Following on from the the government announcement this evening as Housekeepers are unable to work from home they are still permitted to carry out their cleaning duties for our clients.
19 July 2021 - Despite the changes that came into effect today, Housekeepers and Clients are advised to adhere to our previous guidance.
16 August 2021 - From today the government has stipulated that you do not need to isolate (i.e. spend 10 days in quarantine) after contact with a Covid positive person, providing you have been double vaccinated.
Housekeepers are advised to wash their hands regularly for a minimum of 20 seconds (as per government guidelines) and also to wipe door handles when leaving a room including the front door. Also to catch coughs and sneezes in tissues.
If a client is at home whilst the housekeeper is cleaning then they should distance each other by at least 2 Metres, we would suggest being in a separate room.
Again following government guidelines, should any housekeeper have any Coronavirus like symptoms then they are advised to self isolate for 7 days and inform all of their clients and ourselves or should another member of the housekeeper's household show symptoms they are advised to self isolate for 14 days.
Likewise should a client have any Coronavirus like symptoms or wish to self isolate for other reasons they are advised to inform their housekeeper and ourselves using the same guidelines.
In both of the scenarios above it is at the discretion of the client to decide if payment should still be made to the housekeeper for these hours and naturally any missed hours may be made use of in the future on a day / time to suit both parties.
We fully support the government guidelines during this terrible time.
hope this helps to clarify our current position on this.
Our best wishes to everyone during this time.
Barry Turpin (Managing Director)
